Qarmet, a Kazakhstan-based integrated steel and mining company, successfully finished a major overhaul of converter No. 3 after just 16 days of maintenance. The unit was suspended on May 22 after reaching its maximum durability of 7911 heats. The converter is now in active operation.

The extensive work included a complete relining, repairs to the housing and all protective structures, railway infrastructure restoration, and a major overhaul of the gas cleaning system to ensure environmental compliance. This timely completion, thanks to coordinated efforts across multiple departments, allowed steel production to continue on schedule.

The overhaul this time followed similar ones of converters No. 1 and No. 2 in 2024, which involved replacing housings with modern and more load-resistant structures, raising both equipment lifespan and steel smelting capacity. The overhauls of the three converters in 2024 to 2025 are part of Qarmet's comprehensive technical modernization program.
