Brazil extends AD duties on India’s grinding balls by 5 years

Brazil has extended its anti-dumping (AD) duties on imports of cast iron or chrome-alloyed grinding balls from India for an additional five years. This measure was first imposed in June 2018.

According to Brazil's Secretariat of Foreign Trade (SECEX), there is sufficient evidence that Indian grinding ball imports are causing damage to domestic production. Therefore, a 2.9% ad valorem duty will continue to apply to grinding balls from AIA Engineering Limited, Welcast Steels Limited, and all other Indian suppliers. The extension followed an investigation initiated based on a petition filed by local producer Magotteaux Brasil Ltda.

The products involved are grinding balls of cast iron and/or chrome-alloyed steel, with a chromium content of 17.6% to 22% and a diameter of 57 to 64 mm, a chromium content of 22% to 28% and a diameter of 11 to 28 mm, and a chromium content of 28% to 32% and a diameter of 22 to 35 mm. These products are commonly classified under tariff codes 7325.91.00 of the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM).
