POSCO to supply HIC resistant steel for Saudi Aramco’s Fadhili expansion

South Korea’s steelmaker POSCO will supply its hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC) resistant steel for Saudi Aramco’s Fadhili gas plant expansion project. This is the first time South Korean-made energy steel will be delivered to this market, previously dominated by European producers.

The Fadhili expansion aims to increase the existing plant's gas processing capacity by 1.6 times. POSCO's HIC steel, crucial for pipelines and pressure vessels in harsh oil and gas environments, meets Aramco's strict quality standards, which surpass international norms.

This supply expands POSCO's presence in the high-value-added energy steel market and strengthens the competitiveness of the domestic plant industry.

South Korean manufacturers, including Hyundai Steel Pipe, SeAH Steel, Bumhan Mecatec, and Taekwang, were selected for related pipe, pressure vessels, and fitting production in the project.
