UK-based Primetals Technologies recently opened a cutting-edge service workshop in Santa Cruz, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Located near several major steel manufacturers, the 7,968-square-meter facility provides extensive advanced maintenance and refurbishment services.

The new workshop offers caster roll maintenance and nickel plating, with innovative coating technologies for flat rolling mills and galvanizing lines. It also includes a mechatronics and hydraulics test center, equipped with technologies like laser cladding and high-velocity coating systems (HVOF and HVAF). These capabilities help to extend equipment lifespans and increase reliability for Brazil's steel, mining, oil and gas, wind energy, and paper production industries.

The facility also uses digital tools, such as the Maintenance and Asset Technology (MAT) system, to automate workflows and strengthen traceability, offering customers real-time data and transparency.
