ArcelorMittal Jinxi New Materials (Changzhou), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and China Oriental Group, has selected Danieli to supply a new six-stand cold-strip mill in Changzhou, China. This mill is part of the New Energy Magnetic Material (NEMM) project and will produce high-grade non-oriented silicon steel for electric vehicle applications.

The new cold-rolling tandem mill will incorporate several advanced features to achieve high-precision, ultra-thin gauges. These include a proprietary small workroll diameter plus a large-stroke shifting system for precise control of edge drop and strip shape, and a dynamic roll and strip oil-lubrication system to ensure stable warm rolling while minimizing strip breaks.

The mill also has a Dan-Joint drive shaft system with an automatic thin oil-lubrication unit to extend service life. It is equipped with X-Dry precision strip cleaning for efficient oil removal and a smart self-inspecting selective cooling system to reduce maintenance.

The project is scheduled to begin operation in 24 months.
