Turkey imposes new restrictions on Israeli-related vessels

26 Aug 2025 16:38 reported by Vicky Wang

Turkey recently escalated its sanctions against Israel, this time targeting the shipping sector. The Turkish government has demanded that shipping companies issue statements certifying that their vessels have no trade or military ties with Israel, lest they be denied access to Turkish ports.

Turkish-flagged vessels are also prohibited from traveling to Israel, including for container transshipment and related cargo flows.

In fact, Turkey already completely froze bilateral imports and exports in May 2024 due to the Israel-Gaza conflict, bringing bilateral trade to a near standstill.
