Turkey has decided to impose new anti-dumping (AD) duties on heavy plate imports from South Korea. The tariffs, ranging from 4.34% to 9.40% of the CIF value, will remain in effect for five years from August 30, 2025.

The original investigation was launched last year based on a petition from a local steel producer, Ereğli Demir ve Çelik Fabrikaları T.A.Ş. (Erdemir), which claimed imports from South Korea were harming the domestic industry. The period for the dumping investigation was from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023, and the injury assessment period was from October 1, 2020, to September 30, 2023.

The Ministry of Trade concluded that South Korean steel was being sold at prices that significantly undercut and suppressed local market prices.

The new AD duty is set at 4.37% for POSCO, 4.34% for Hyundai Steel, and 9.40% for all other producers or exporters.
