The US has reduced tariffs on EU automobile imports to 15%, effective retroactively to August 1, formalizing a framework trade deal reached this summer.

Detailed in a document released on Wednesday by the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) and the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR), this change reduces the previous 25% duty on EU vehicles and parts. The new rate took effect after the EU introduced corresponding legislation to lower tariffs on American goods on August 28.

The tariff relief also includes exemptions for sectors such as aircraft parts, generic pharmaceutical drugs, and certain metals and ores, effective on September 1.
