China’s Shanxi Jingang New Materials Technology has inked a contract with Primetals Technologies to buy a new Arvedi ESP (Endless Strip Production) thin-slab casting and rolling plant at its facility in Jincheng, China.

The plant, with an annual production capacity of 2.6 million tons, is designed for fully endless mode operation. It will primarily produce advanced steel grades, including electrical and deep-drawing steels, with strip gauges from 0.7 to 12.7 millimeters.

The supply contract includes a complete electrics package, Level 1 and Level 2 automation systems, and a comprehensive digitalization solution featuring the Asset Life Expert (ALEX) and Thought-Process Quality Control (TPQC) systems.

Primetals Technologies targets an aggressive 18-month schedule for the first coil. This project represents the tenth ESP line in China, showing the technology's growing adoption.
