Mexico launches AD investigation on steel cables from Malaysia, Vietnam

The Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) has initiated an anti-dumping (AD) investigation into imports of steel cables originating in Malaysia and Vietnam, following a complaint from Mexican producer Deacero, which alleged that steel cable imports from the two countries were entering Mexico in large volumes under conditions of price discrimination, thus damaging the domestic industry.

The products under the investigation are steel cables, whose components are wire, strand, and core, with a diameter ranging from 3.18 to 79.38 mm, black or galvanized. Stainless steel cables and cables coated with plastic or with any other type of coating are excluded from the probe scope. The affected products are under tariff code 7312.10.01, 7312.10.05, 7312.10.07, and 7312.10.99 of the TIGIE.

The investigation period is from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, and the injury Analysis period spans from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024.
