Slovakia launches EUR 150 million industrial carbon reduction fund

Slovakia's Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia and Minister of Environment, Tomáš Taraba, announced the launch of a second round of a EUR 150 million industrial decarbonization program, funded entirely by the European Union.

The program aims to help industry implement energy saving and carbon reduction technologies, reducing emissions and costs for emission allowances.

Subsidies target companies covered by the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), which accounts for approximately 90% of the country's total industrial emissions. Each project must reduce their emissions by at least 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent compared to the last five year average.

Taraba stated that this EU funding will be a crucial tool to stimulate sluggish investment and maintain employment.
