China's Stellar Steel Co., Ltd. has announced a US$450 million investment to build a new steel plant in Ogun State, Nigeria. The project, developed by subsidiaries of Galaxy Group and RSIN Group and supported by the Ogun State government, is one of the largest private Chinese steel investments in Africa.

The new facility will produce hot-rolled coils, steel doors, and gas cylinders, reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imported steel and boosting local manufacturing. Construction is progressing on schedule, with production expected to start in mid-2026, creating over 1,000 local jobs.

Galaxy Group emphasized Ogun State’s potential as a key industrial hub in Africa, encouraging more Chinese companies to invest and promote mutual growth and cooperation.

Analysts view this project as a strategic step for Chinese steelmakers to expand overseas and counter global trade barriers, marking a new milestone in Stellar Steel’s global development.
