The US and Malaysia reached an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade to strengthen bilateral economic ties and expand market access for exporters from both countries. The pact builds on the 2004 United States-Malaysia Trade Investment Framework Agreement.

Under the deal, Malaysia will grant preferential access for US exports of industrial and agricultural goods such as machinery, metals, vehicles, dairy, poultry, and rice. The US will maintain a 19% reciprocal tariff rate and apply zero tariffs to selected Malaysian products. 

Malaysia also agreed to accept US-built vehicles meeting US safety and emissions standards and to recognize US certificates for food and agricultural products, while streamlining import and halal certification processes.

The agreement includes commitments on environmental protection, labor rights, intellectual property, digital trade, and supply chain cooperation. Malaysia pledged to avoid restrictions on critical mineral exports to the US. Both governments noted major commercial deals worth billions as the agreement moves toward implementation.
