Bolivia’s Empresa Siderúrgica del Mutún (ESM) successfully produced its first Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) on October 7, 2025, using the ENERGIRON Zero-Reformer (ZR) Micro-Module supplied by Tenova. This milestone represents Bolivia's inaugural DRI production and a major step for the region's green steel industry.

The plant, developed by Tenova HYL and Danieli, is designed to produce 250,000 metric tons of high-quality DRI annually, with metallization levels of 94% and adjustable high carbon content ranging from 3% to 4%.

Integrated within a large steel complex in Santa Cruz, this facility is crucial, as its output is expected to cover nearly half of Bolivia's domestic steel requirements, reinforcing Tenova's leadership in DRI technology supply.
