China’s steel manufacturer Hebei Jinxi Iron and Steel Group has placed an order with Primetals Technologies for two continuous slab casters, each with an annual capacity of 2.5 million tons. The new casters, scheduled for startup by the end of 2026, will be installed at Jinxi Steel’s plant near Tangshan, Hebei province.

This investment will support Jinxi Iron and Steel’s strategic goals of expanding its production of high-quality electrical steels, especially non-oriented electrical steels (NOES) for new energy vehicles.

Primetals Technologies will supply advanced solutions such as the DynaGap 3D roll-gap control and comprehensive digitalization packages with Level 1 and Level 2 automation systems. These technologies ensure dynamic soft reduction, fast slab-width changes, and better internal strand quality across a wide range of steel grades, including silicon and API special steels.
