voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH has contracted Danieli to supply five automatic scrap yard cranes for its Donawitz site in Austria. This move supports the company's sustainable program for green steel production.

The new cranes will be fully integrated with Danieli’s Q3-DYMS Scrap Yard Management System to improve safety and operational efficiency. The new cranes will feature automation technologies, including absolute positioning systems, intelligent video cameras (Danieli Eye-On), electrical anti-sway and regenerative drives, scrap material classification, as well as volumetric detection for yard inventory.

Equipped with both electromagnets and electrohydraulic grabs, the cranes will provide autonomous and energy-efficient operation.

This order follows recent awards for new electric arc furnaces and charging cranes, setting the stage for cleaner and smarter steel production.
