Zaporizhstal PJSC has started the final stage of its Sinter Plant modernization project, a major investment aimed at significantly reducing emissions. On November 5, the company halted Sinter machine No. 3 to connect new gas-cleaning equipment. The next steps will include shutting down and installing gas-cleaning systems on Sinter machines Nos. 4, 5, and 6. Once complete, all six machines will be fitted with modern systems capable of cutting plant emissions by up to 45%. Total investment in the ecological upgrade will exceed UAH 845 million.

Each installation requires about two months, during which the machine is fully shut down. Construction began in mid-2015, with extensive work already completed on machines Nos. 3 and 4, including the installation of bag filters, adsorbers, dust-removal conveyors, and gas-duct systems. Around 90% of metal structures for these units are now in place.

Earlier upgrades included high-efficiency gas-cleaning facilities for Sinter machines Nos. 1 and 2 in 2013 and 2014. Equipment is supplied by Progress Berdychev Machine-Building Plant, and construction is carried out by the Zaporozhye Construction and Erection Department. Permits for the current phase were issued in June 2015.
