Unimetals, a recycling company operating dozens of sites across the UK, has filed for liquidation. The firm, headquartered in Stratford-upon-Avon, runs facilities in locations including London, Halesowen, Staffordshire, Greater Manchester, and Devon. It remains unclear when the company will formally enter liquidation or how many jobs may be affected.

A spokesperson said on Monday that the company had worked tirelessly to explore every possible option to secure new financing for Unimetals Recycling (UK) Ltd, including an accelerated mergers and acquisitions process conducted in collaboration with advisers and stakeholders to identify potential buyers or investors. Despite significant interest, the company said no transaction was completed.

Consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has been appointed to assist with the next steps. The company said it will work with employees, suppliers, customers, creditors, and regulators to ensure the liquidation process is carried out safely, responsibly, and transparently, and is urgently developing a plan and timeline for what follows.
