Steel Dynamics, Inc. announced on December 1, 2025, that it has completed the acquisition of the remaining 55% equity interest in New Process Steel, L.P., a metals solutions and distribution company based in Houston, Texas. 

New Process Steel operates as a leading North American metal products manufacturer with six manufacturing facilities across the US and Mexico, including two locations at Steel Dynamics' Butler, Indiana and Columbus, Mississippi divisions. 

Originally purchased in 1952 by Gene Fant, the company has been led for over 25 years by his son, Richard Fant, who has significantly expanded and modernized its operations. 

New Process Steel currently employs approximately 1,275 people and specializes in value-added manufacturing applications and supply-chain management solutions. The company holds the distinction of being Steel Dynamics' largest flat roll steel customer.
