voestalpine & Innofreight launch mobile hydrogen transport container

4 Dec 2025 15:42 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
voestalpine Tubulars and Innofreight unveiled the H2Tainer, a mobile 40-foot container solution designed for the safe and efficient movement of hydrogen.

The system is engineered for intermodal use, allowing it to transport up to 420 kilograms of hydrogen via both rail and truck. This flexibility ensures a continuous logistics chain, even without a direct railway connection, creating an extended range for hydrogen supply.

At the core of the H2Tainer are seamless pipes with the VAhyper® hydrogen-tight connection, produced in Kindberg. The modular design and easy component replacement promise a service life exceeding 20 years.

The H2Tainer is currently undergoing approval and is expected to become available in the summer of 2026.
