Waelzholz Brasmetal, a steel producer in Brazil, is expanding its production capacity at its São Paulo facility with an equipment investment. The company is installing a new four-high reversing mill and a total of five bell annealing furnaces to raise output.

These upgrades, which also include a new slitting line and a packaging line, will allow the site to produce an additional 33,000 tons of high-quality cold-rolled steel strip annually. The goal is to fully use the growth potential of the Latin American market.

CEO Baroudi Zelit said that the expansion is driven by strong regional growth opportunities, noting that increased investment in local production by automakers has boosted demand for steel strip products. The move meets Waelzholz’s strategy of adapting its global production to local economic regions and market conditions.
