Godawari Power gains approval to ramp up capacity

Godawari Power and Ispat Ltd (GPIL) received consent to operate its expanded iron ore pelletisation plant, increasing capacity from 2.7 million tons per annum (MTPA) to 4.7 MTPA. The approval for the additional 2 MTPA pellet plant was granted by the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board at the beginning of December.

Following the approval, GPIL started the expanded plant on the same day. Commercial production is expected within a week, after which the company will notify stock exchanges.

For the September quarter, GPIL reported a net profit of ₹161 crore, up 1.5% from ₹159 crore a year earlier. Revenue rose 3.2% to ₹1,307 crore from ₹1,267 crore, while EBITDA increased by 5.2% to ₹259.3 crore, with operating margins improving to 19.8% from 19.5%. Based in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, GPIL is a fully integrated secondary steel and power producer, part of the Hira Group, competing in long steel and pellet segments.
