China steel exports surge might disrupt order & boost domestic pressure

Recently, Luo Tiejun, Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), pointed out that China's steel exports in 2025 will show a trend of high export volume. As of the end of November, the annual steel export volume increased by 6.7% year-on-year. Luo Tiejun emphasized that this long-term pattern of large-scale exports may affect the normal export order, thereby increasing domestic supply and demand pressure in China.

Faced with changes in the foreign trade situation, CISA has actively taken adjustment measures. On the one hand, it continues to urge relevant departments to restore export tax rebates for high-end steel products to enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese products. On the other hand, the association organizes enterprises to cope with international trade frictions. In addition, CISA has also actively raised the issue of tax evasion exports. Luo Tiejun reminded that enterprises and policymakers must maintain the healthy development of the industry.
