Poland acquires Huta Częstochowa steelworks for PLN 253.8 million

The Polish Ministry of National Defense officially acquired the Huta Częstochowa steelworks for PLN 253.8 million on December 22, 2025. This historic deal places the country’s only hardened armor plate producer under state control to secure domestic military supply chains. Assets will be managed by the Military Property Agency to support the production of Polish frigates and armored vehicles.

After recovering from a period of production downtime and bankruptcy, the plant expects to reach a production volume of 300,000 tons by the end of 2025. Output is projected to grow to 500,000 tons in 2026. With new permits for armored sheet production arriving in January, the facility is now a central pillar of Poland’s defense independence.
