Canada may sustain AD & CVD duties on rebar from 3 countries

30 Dec 2025 15:56 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has concluded its expiry review investigation into concrete reinforcing bar (rebar) imports, determining that lifting current trade protections would likely result in the return of unfair trade practices from overseas suppliers. Specifically, the CBSA found that dumping is likely to continue from China, South Korea, and Turkey, while illegal subsidization remains a threat from China.

This determination advances a process that began earlier in July this year. Following these findings, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will now investigate whether such imports would cause injury to domestic steel producers. A final ruling on whether to extend the duties for another five years is expected by June 17, 2026. A detailed Statement of Reasons explaining the CBSA's logic will be released within 15 days.

The products involved are under HS codes 7213.10.00.11, 7213.10.00.12, 7213.10.00.13, 7213.10.00.90, 7214.20.00.11, 7214.20.00.12, 7214.20.00.13, 7214.20.00.14, 7214.20.00.21, 7214.20.00.22, 7214.20.00.23, 7214.20.00.24, 7214.20.00.31, 7214.20.00.32, 7214.20.00.33, 7214.20.00.34, 7214.20.00.90, 7215.90.00.20, 7215.90.00.30, 7227.90.00.50, 7228.30.00.51, 7228.30.00.52, and 7228.30.00.53.
