Argentina extends export tax exemptions for aluminum and steel products

6 Jan 2026 17:04 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Argentina’s President Javier Milei signed a decree, prolonging the zero-percent export duty rate for aluminum and steel products until March 31, 2026. This three-month extension applies to goods shipped to countries imposing import tariffs of 45% or higher. By removing these domestic levies, the government intends to protect the global competitiveness of local manufacturers facing heavy protectionism abroad.

The measure covers a wide range of materials, including flat-rolled steel products, alloy steel, tubes and hollow profiles, and various aluminum profiles.

The Secretariat of Production Coordination will manage the updated list of eligible destination countries. This policy is a move to reduce the tax burden on domestic industries, helping to maintain production levels and employment within these strategic industries.
