Thyssenkrupp in talks to sell steel unit TKSE to Jindal Steel

Thyssenkrupp is reportedly advancing talks to sell its German steel unit, Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe (TKSE), to India's Jindal Steel International through a phased transaction.

Jindal would initially acquire about 60% of the division, with the remaining 40% transferred later based on restructuring progress. This structure is viewed as a pragmatic solution to address TKSE’s high costs and significant pension liabilities, which have historically complicated a sale.

A Jindal delegation is scheduled to visit TKSE’s Duisburg facilities in January for technical inspections.
