Primetals Technologies will update the automation systems at voestalpine Stahl’s BETA 2 pickling line and tandem cold mill (PLTCM) in Linz, Austria. Scheduled for completion in mid-2026, the project replaces Level 1 and Level 2 process controls with the latest Siemens PCS7 version and updated Windows and Oracle environments.

By migrating all automation to voestalpine’s virtualization environment, the project simplifies maintenance and improves IT security. This ensures reliable production of high-strength steels for automotive and construction sectors.

Based on a long-term cooperative relationship, this modernization secures the plant’s compatibility with the latest hardware standards while improving operational availability across the entire facility.
