ArcelorMittal Rails and Special Sections, a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal, has begun supplying rails for the Oman-UAE cross-border railway project, marking a key step in building the region's first transnational rail network.

The first shipment of 5,700 tons of rails arrived in August 2025 from the company's Gijón plant in Spain. Deliveries will continue through 2026, with total project supply expected to reach 33,100 tons.

The 238-kilometer railway will link Oman's Sohar with the UAE's national rail network to boost trade and logistics integration. It aims to enhance regional connectivity and support Oman's goal of becoming a logistics hub.

The railway is being developed by Hafeet Rail, an Oman-UAE joint venture. The rails are designed to withstand heavy axle loads and are adapted to local geographical conditions.

This project is set to strengthen transportation infrastructure and support long-term economic growth in both countries.
