ArcelorMittal Mexico has begun restarting the blast furnace at its Lázaro Cárdenas steel plant, marking the resumption of long products production after the unit was idled in July last year.

The company said the restart followed the completion of technical and operational preparations, carried out jointly by in-house steelmaking specialists and contractors under established industrial safety standards.

The blast furnace restart forms part of ArcelorMittal’s strategy to restore normal operations at the Lázaro Cárdenas steel complex. The restart is expected to support industrial activity and employment in the Lázaro Cárdenas region.
