After a lengthy process, the court overseeing the auction of Mexico's largest steelmaker, Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA), authorized the special sale of its assets in a public auction scheduled for March 2, 2026.

The court set the minimum bid at approximately US$1.13 billion, around 85% of the appraised value determined by analysts.

The auction that includes AHMSA and its subsidiary Minera del Norte (MINOSA) will be conducted as a single unit, seeking to preserve the operational integrity of the complex and attract a new owner with the financial and technical capacity to reactivate it.

The new owner of Mexico's historic steel complex will be announced in just over a month.
