3 Feb 2026 17:09 reported by Ana Lee

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), together with several other ministries, recently issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Construction of Zero-Carbon Factories." This move signifies that the development of zero-carbon factories in China is now officially driven by the state, providing a blueprint for local administrative policies and planning.

According to the plan, a number of exemplary zero-carbon factories will start to be selected in 2026, with priority given to the automotive, lithium battery, and solar energy industries in 2027. By 2030, the scope will be further expanded to traditional industries such as steel and textiles.
