Saarstahl & Max Bögl renew long-term contract to strengthen steel supply cooperation for wind turbine towers

Germany-based long steel producer Saarstahl AG announced that its subsidiary, DWK Drahtwerk Köln GmbH (DWK), has renewed its long-term steel supply agreement with wind energy equipment supplier Max Bögl Wind AG. This agreement continues the partnership established in 2015 and further expands the supply scale to meet the growing demand for wind power infrastructure in Europe.

Under the agreement, DWK will continue to supply high-strength prestressing steel wire for hybrid wind turbine towers. This material enhances the stability, durability, and resistance to wind pressure and operating loads of the tower by creating tensile stress within the concrete structure.

As wind turbines become larger, the demand for high-performance long steel products is increasing accordingly. Both parties stated that this renewal will deepen their strategic cooperation and support the upgrading of renewable energy equipment and the European energy transition process.
