The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and Jindal Steel signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a Nodal Centre of Excellence (CoE) focused on high-strength and performance-oriented structural steel research and design. This platform connects academia with industry to modernize construction codes and promote sustainable, multi-hazard resilient infrastructure.

The CoE will drive nationwide capacity building through specialized courses, workshops, and direct design support for projects such as bridges and tall buildings.

By establishing Chair Professorships, the center will attract global expertise to enhance performance-oriented structural steel applications. This collaboration coordinates research across various ministries and professional bodies to advance India’s infrastructure goals while reducing the carbon footprint of the built environment through design methodologies and technology transfer.
