European steel exports to US down by 30% in H2 2025 y-o-y

According to data from the European Steel Association (EUROFER), the volume of steel exports from the European Union to the United States fell by 30% in the second half of 2025 compared to the same period the previous year.

The drop in exports to the United States was clearly due to the 50% tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on European steel and aluminum, effective June 2025.

Axel Eggert, the director of EUROFER, stated that this sharp decline in just six months was a clear indication that the US tariffs are harming the steel industry in Europe.
