Peru's National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) reported that the anti-dumping investigation into steel wire rod from China is in its final phase. A public hearing was held on February 27, and the final decision will be announced in March.
The investigation into Chinese wire rod arose from a complaint filed by the national steelmaker Aceros Arequipa alleging dumping practices. This led to the imposition of provisional anti-dumping duties in July 2025, valued at US$64.6 per ton. However, these duties were lifted in November 2025 after the maximum four-month period established by national legislation and the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Anti-Dumping Agreement expired.
