The UK's new anti-dumping (AD) measures against Chinese tin mill products took effect on March 13, 2026.

Following a Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) investigation, the UK government determined that these imports entered the local market at prices 28% to 50% lower than in China during the investigation period from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, causing material injury to British domestic producers.

Under the final ruling, Shougang Group faces an individual duty rate of 27.85%, while a uniform rate of 49.98% applies to other Chinese exporters.

The products involved are flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel coated or plated with tin (tinplate), and flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel coated with chromium or chromium oxides (electrolytic chromium coated steel, ECCS). The UK government said that the intervention is to secure a fair and competitive environment for the local steel industry.
