Operational updates drive record volumes at Pilbara Ports

18 Mar 2026 16:09 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Pilbara Ports reached a total monthly throughput of 55.9 million tons in February, rising by 13% compared to the same month in the previous year. The Port of Port Hedland achieved its third straight month of record results, moving 40.6 million tons. Iron ore exports accounted for 40 million tons of that total.

Efficiency growth came from revised vessel movement guidelines and improved Dynamic Under Keel Clearance (DUKC), allowing larger ships to maximize cargo safely.

Meanwhile, the Port of Dampier handled 12.5 million tons, representing a 25% increase over February 2025. While export volumes rose, Port Hedland imports fell by 8% year on year.

Pilbara Ports said that market conditions and maintenance schedules continue to influence these fluctuating results.
