HBIS Tangsteel, a steel manufacturer in China, has started operations of a fourth two-strand continuous caster at its Tangshan Laoting plant in Hebei. This facility, supplied by Primetals Technologies, adds 2.4 million tons of annual capacity, bringing the site’s total slab production to 9.6 million tons.

This startup is the tenth casting collaboration between HBIS Group and the technology provider.

The new equipment features advanced automation, including the DynaFlex hydraulic oscillator for better strand-surface quality and the DynaGap SoftReduction 3D system for improved internal strand quality.

These systems optimize cooling and width adjustments to produce a variety of steel grades. By implementing these technological solutions, the mill aims to maximize yield and ensure stable, high-speed casting operations.
