Brazilian steelmaker Compañía Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN) reported that its steel sales reached 995,000 tons in the fourth quarter of 2025, representing a drop of 15.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. This decline is attributed to seasonality, high inventories in distribution channels, and persistent competition from imported steel in the Brazilian market.

In the domestic market, sales decreased year-on-year by 13.6%, while sales to the international market fell by 20.5%. Notably, for the first time since 2019, CSN did not register any direct exports of its products, reflecting the difficulties imposed by international tariff barriers and a highly competitive global environment.

Despite lower volumes, CSN's adjusted EBITDA for its steel division grew 6.8% year-on-year, reaching R$700.2 million. However, this financial result was impacted by accounting adjustments related to idle plant capacity, highlighting the operational challenges the company faces due to the low utilization of its production infrastructure.
