Posco Future M inks 1 trillion won deal for artificial graphite anode materials

Posco Future M, a battery materials producer under POSCO, has signed a 1.0149 trillion won long-term contract to supply artificial graphite anode materials to a global automaker.

The five-year agreement begins in October 2027 and represents the company's largest single anode order since 2011. The confidentiality clauses keep the customer's identity private.

As a non-Chinese supplier, Posco Future M helps automakers comply with the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the EU Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA). The company secures coke, a raw material for artificial graphite, by utilizing coal tar from its own steelmaking process. This strategy makes the firm a major player in the global battery material market while reducing dependence on Chinese graphite.
