NEOM has terminated a structural steel supply contract for the Trojena Ski Village with Malaysia’s Eversendai Corporation, effective March 26, 2026, amid escalating conflict in the Middle East. The decision comes weeks after the cancellation of a US$1 billion tunnelling contract for THE LINE and reflects rising geopolitical risks affecting major projects.

Eversendai Engineering Saudi Arabia LLC, together with Albawani Company Limited, had secured the contract in 2024. The agreement covered procurement, fabrication, and installation of structural steel and was scheduled for completion within 28.5 months.

The termination raises concerns over construction timelines and costs, as NEOM must seek alternative suppliers. In a filing to the Kuala Lumpur stock exchange, Eversendai stated it had fulfilled its contractual obligations and is preparing documentation to support claims for compensation, including termination and demobilisation costs. Trojena, a US$19 billion desert ski resort planned to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games, has faced construction challenges amid ongoing supply chain disruptions and rising steel prices.
