A Turkish steel producer recently issued a final acceptance certificate (FAC) to Primetals Technologies after a successful two-phase modernization of its hot-strip mill.

The project involved replacing basic automation hardware and migrating software to the latest PCS7 platform. The main updates include a virtualized Level 2 system to reduce IT response times and the installation of the Contour and Flatness Optimizer.

The mill restarted as scheduled, with more than 2,300 items produced during testing to verify improved strip profile and flatness.

This upgrade provides the producer with increased spare part availability and continued support from technical experts. By updating both hardware and software, the facility now meets current production needs and ensures a high level of operational reliability.
