Canada probes Chinese steel rack imports for unfair trading

27 Apr 2026 14:43 reported by Joy Liu

Canada has launched formal investigations into whether Chinese steel racks are being dumped or subsidized, threatening the domestic market.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) began this probe on April 20, 2026, after five major local producers complained about losing sales and employment to low-priced imports. These complainants represent most of the $415 million annual Canadian industry.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) examines potential injury to the domestic industry, with a ruling due by June 19, 2026. Simultaneously, the CBSA evaluates if imports enter Canada at unfair prices or subsidized, with preliminary decisions expected by July 20, 2026.

The investigation targets various storage components, specifically roll-formed pallet racks and their hardware. A detailed statement of reasons is expected on the CBSA website within 15 days to provide further clarity on the case.
