Marubeni-Itochu Steel America plans to invest in new Arkansas steel facility

Marubeni-Itochu Steel America Inc. (MISA) announced its plans to construct an advanced flat-rolled steel processing plant located in Osceola, Arkansas. This investment, valued at over $37 million, brings 35 high-paying positions to Mississippi County.

MISA Specialty Processing (MSP), a subsidiary of MISA, will manage the new facility. Situated adjacent to Big River Steel, the service center expands regional capacity to produce high-quality steel, servicing customers across various sectors, including automotive markets throughout the South-Central United States.

Toshio (Tony) Namiki, President and CEO of MISA, expressed confidence in the region, noting the potential of the local workforce and the desire to build business in North America.

Chris VanDeventer, president of MSP, said that the company values the legacy of the steel industry in the region and looks forward to collaborating with local stakeholders.
