JFE Steel Corporation and JSW Steel Limited have officially established JSW JFE Steel Limited, a 50:50 joint venture centered on the integrated steel plant in Odisha, India.

Finalized on March 30, 2026, this partnership aims to tap into India's soaring steel demand by merging JFE’s technical expertise with JSW’s operational strengths. The venture, which includes production sites in Sambalpur, Kolkata, and Chandigarh, possesses an annual crude steel capacity of 4.5 million tons.

With an investment of approximately JPY 270 billion from JFE, the project serves as a cornerstone for the Japanese firm's goal to reach JPY 200 billion in overseas profits by 2035. The facility produces diverse flat and long steel products for the automotive and construction sectors.

Strategically located near essential iron ore mines, the plant also profits from well-developed rail and road infrastructure. This setup ensures strong raw material security and cost advantages, supporting JFE’s long-term objective of expanding its international business earnings.
