Turkish packaging producer KÖKSAN has contracted Uhde Inventa-Fischer, thyssenkrupp Uhde’s subsidiary, to build a new PET resin production facility in Yumurtalık, Turkey.

Scheduled for completion in 2028, the plant will produce 324,000 tons of PET resin annually for packaging applications and bulk continuous filament (BCF) production. This project represents the third collaboration between the companies, aiming to serve markets across Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

The facility will utilize patented Melt-To-Resin (MTR®) technology, which removes traditional processing steps to cut energy use and electrical consumption by up to 30%. This 2-reactor system lowers investment and operating costs while increasing raw material yields.

thyssenkrupp Uhde will provide the license, engineering, and equipment, while also training KÖKSAN personnel to operate the machinery. This investment helps the producer secure a stronger market presence through improved sustainability and economic efficiency.
