Mexico's Ministry of Economy has confirmed Ternium's new steel mill in Pesqueria will begin operations in late 2026 as part of its third expansion phase. The third-phase expansion will cost US$4 billion, pushing the company's total investment to US$7.5 billion.

The new plant will boost production capacity for premium automotive steel with optimized processes and reduced per-ton CO2 emissions following global sustainability rules.

Equipped with Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) and Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) technologies, the mill achieves higher production electrification, and its new rolling and galvanizing lines can make high-grade steel that meets rigorous regional market standards.

Ternium said the project demonstrates Mexico's steel industry growth potential and domestic capacity to produce high-value-added steel materials.
