US’ crude steel production in week ending Apr 25 decreases

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending April 25, 2026, the production of US’ crude steel totaled 1.83 million short tons, decreasing by 1.0% from the same period a week ago and increasing by 8.7% compared to the same period a year earlier.

The capacity utilization rate was 79.3%, down from 80% week on week.

For the year through April 25, 2026, total crude steel production amounted to 29.54 million short tons, with a capacity utilization rate of 77.8%. This compares to 27.88 million short tons and a 76.1% utilization rate in the same period of 2025.
