India's LMEL raises pellet capacity through Konsari expansion

6 May 2026 14:47 reported by Vicky Wang

A A A
India’s Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL) has commissioned a new pellet production plant in Konsari, Maharashtra, adding 4 million tons per annum (MTPA) capacity. The expansion lifts the site’s total pellet output capability to 8 million tons per year, supporting the company’s growing steel raw material business.

Raw materials are supplied from LMEL’s Surjagarh iron ore mine through an 85 km slurry pipeline, helping improve logistics efficiency and reduce transport costs.

The new facility can also produce low alumina pellets, a higher-value product that typically secures stronger pricing in both domestic and export markets.
